Hopefully you’ve made it past National Quitters Day and have completed a Year-In-Review so you can have centered success this year. If not, new mercies today. Begin again.
Mistake #1 for leaders not achieving their goals and fulfilling their potential is a lack of reflection. Mistake #2 is not having a PLAN.
I remember calling a mentor when I was first starting Ezer & Co. six years ago, and I said, “I feel like I’m building a plane already in flight at 30,000 ft.” She simply replied, “That’s impossible.” Ouch! While we didn’t crash and burn, we did hit a lot of barriers without a plan.
“Fire, ready, aim” is a common, albeit chaotic, approach for leaders. Yet, so many leaders approach their goals without a clear plan.
Break your big goals into small, action steps. This approach rewires your brain to focus on progress, triggering the release of dopamine—the motivation molecule.
For next week, write down the three things you need to do to keep you moving toward your goal.
Remember, an actionable plan is your leadership GPS. Without it, you risk burnout or drifting off course. But with it? You’ll lead with power and purpose.
