The thing your strongest leaders aren’t saying

Of all the findings from our 500+ leader data set, this one is the sneakiest.

And the most costly.

“I have trustworthy guides actively supporting me” averaged 6.0 out of 10.

Sixth lowest of all statements we track. This has shocked me.

High-capacity leaders give guidance all day. To their teams, their direct reports, their families, the people who count on them to have the answer and give feedback.

And they receive almost none.

Not because they don’t want it. Because the higher you go, the fewer people there are who can actually meet you there. The expectation is that you have it handled.

So you perform having it handled. And the gap between what you project and what you actually carry quietly widens.

This is not a personal weakness. It is the most predictable pattern in leadership.

And it is not just yours. It goes for the leaders on your team, too.

The ones who show up every day, execute at a high level, and never once wave a flag that they’re running a deficit underneath. The ones you count on most. The ones who are least likely to ask for help and most likely to need it.

After 25+ years in leadership development I know that the teams that finish the year well are not the ones that pushed hardest in Q4. They are the ones whose leaders were resourced to lead well in every season.

Resourced leaders make better decisions. They hold conflict differently. They bring a version of themselves to Friday afternoon that their teams want to be led by.

If you have a training budget with a December 31 expiration date, this is the investment that pays beyond the quarter.

A Lead Whole training brings the framework, the data, and the tools directly to your team. Your leaders leave with real self-awareness, a personalized action plan, and the language to talk about what has previously gone unspoken.

Half day. Full day. Two days. Built around what your team actually needs.

This is not a rah-rah motivational talk. It is a development experience that changes how your leaders lead themselves, so they can lead everyone else better.

If you’re interested in booking training before the end of 2026, let’s talk.

Spots are limited. I have capacity for a select number of organizational trainings before year-end, and the leaders who book in September are the ones who finish 2026 differently.

P.S. The last 2026 Awareness to Action Retreat is November 9-10 in Orange County. Less than 10 leaders. If you’re the leader who needs this for yourself before you can bring it to your team, this is where you start. Learn more and apply → ezerandco.com/retreats
