My default mode is running hard and fast, but historically I’d run so fast that I missed actually being here. One year, my word was “PRESENCE.” (Turns out, I still need to practice this.)
If you’re finding yourself sprinting toward the end of the year, you’re not alone.
Here’s the irony: Research shows chronic stress shrinks your prefrontal cortex.
When it comes to your leadership, this is the part of your brain responsible for decision-making, problem-solving, and focus. 😳 A big reason you get a paycheck.
When it comes to your life, your pre-frontal cortex aids in connection, creativity, and presence. The very things that make life worth living.
You’re trading joy for productivity. Connection for efficiency. Presence for performance.
And for what? Another checked box? Another “successful” quarter you barely remember?
Three out of four U.S. employees say their stress is literally making them sick. Chronic stress is linked to 60% of all illness and disease.
Your body keeps the score. It will whisper until it has to scream.
As we head into the final stretch of the year, I’m challenging you to do something radical:
👉 STOP completing the year. START completing the stress cycle.
Next week, I’ll show you how. 😉
For now: check in. Where in your body are you holding tension right now? Your jaw? Shoulders? Chest?
That’s not random. That’s data.
Your body is trying to tell you something. Listen.
