“I’ve never said this out loud before.”
When I hear those words in a coaching session, I know we’re entering both sacred ground and breakthrough territory. Because transformation happens when you stop
- Carrying everything alone
- Settling for what’s no longer serving you
- Ignoring what’s true
- Believing this is as good as it gets
- Thinking you’re alone
Here’s the research: When you commit to a goal, have specific accountability appointments, AND have active support, your chance of achieving your goal jumps to 95%.
Ninety. Five. Percent. 🤯
At the risk of getting too nerdy, your brain literally rewires differently in the presence of safe, supportive connections.
The vagus nerve—your body’s primary stress regulator—activates more fully when you’re witnessed by someone who is cheering you on.
Research also shows that your 5 closest people predict your results. You’re more capable than your wildest imagination, but you can’t rise alone.

I was facilitating one of my Mastermind Groups last month, and one participant said that almost out of nowhere. She was gleeful, deliberate, and proud.
Leaders are trained—implicitly and explicitly—to meet never-ending needs and demands. We say a hundred ‘yeses’ before we say ‘no’. And when we say ‘no’, we feel guilty and selfish.
But I’ve found that it’s often in relationship that we find the courage to say ‘no’, ask for what we want, and take strategic actions aligned with who we want to become AND what we want to achieve.
Take a deep breath. Who are your five closest people? Are they your North Star?
You don’t need more willpower. You need the right support.
