Somehow the first half of the year is over and we’re into Q3. What.is.time?!
July feels like the black hole. Out of office messages get turned on. Kids are bouncing between camp and pool parties. Vacations are plentiful. Yet the pressure to keep producing remains.
You have been pushing for six months. I have been pushing for six months. But…
What becomes possible if July is not another month of pushing through or powering up?
Last week I told Brian one morning before my mushroom coffee,
“I’m tired. And not having a vacation planned this summer feels like the sprint continues without a break.”
For too long I held the belief that slowing down means falling behind.
Now I believe something better. Your body is the basis for your whole life, and rest is not the reward for the work. It is required to sustain the work.
Rest is my birthright. Success can be sustainable.
So rest is not a nice-to-have. It is necessary.
