Saw this, thought of you

Asher posing at the Dr. Strange area in Disney’s California Adventure

Tomorrow our miracle joy boy, Asher, turns 13 years old. I honestly can’t believe we’re here already—especially with our oldest two now 15 and 16. 🤯

For his birthday, Asher wanted a 3-day SoCal Resident Disneyland pass. And he wanted to go with me. (He even wants to hold my hand still while we walk. Swoon. I’m the luckiest mom ever. 🥰)

We spaced the visits out over the past month. At the end of our second day, we visited the Avengers Campus. Asher asked for a photo in the Dr. Strange area—he said the ground was an optical illusion and we needed the pic to really see it.

To my naked eye, it just looked like a strange patchwork of tiles. But when I looked at the picture? It was wild.

It looked like he was falling into a wormhole—even though he was standing on perfectly flat ground.

What I thought I was seeing… wasn’t the full picture.

And I thought of you. I may not know all the details of what you’re facing right now—but I do know this:

There may be more going on than meets the eye.

One of the greatest self-leadership tests is learning to pause, shift your perspective, and view your circumstances through a new lens. The crazier the circumstances, the more necessary this becomes.

The two tools that have helped me most?

  1. A monthly day of silence and solitude
  2. Expert guides like my coach, strategist, and therapist

These practices help me pull out of the swirl, see my blind spots, and recalibrate. If you don’t already have either one of these in your rhythm—experiment with them.

Tomorrow, Asher and I head back for our final Disney day to celebrate becoming a teenager. He’s a reminder to me (and maybe to you too):

It’s not just what we see that shapes our leadership.
It’s how we see it that influences everything.

So tell me, —
What are you seeing these days?
And what would it look like to view it differently?
