Hey,
I’ve been leading two Mastermind Groups this year and for the past two months I’ve been starting each morning with a simple breathing exercise while repeating this mantra:
“I will not be distracted from my very important work.”
(adapted from Sharon McMahon)
The results have been remarkable.
It’s set my day’s trajectory in the right direction. I’ve been more focused than ever (that saying a LOT for this perimenopausal, ADHD leader). It’s centered me on what’s mine to do.
When life feels overwhelming, chaotic, or uncertain—as it often does for high-capacity leaders—focusing on what you can control creates a foundation for everything else. Your mindset truly makes or breaks your outcomes.
This intentional practice has helped me filter out the noise and stay committed to what matters most. It’s not about ignoring reality but choosing where to direct my limited attention and energy. I’ve noticed myself less reactive to urgent but unimportant demands, more present with my clients, and clearer about strategic priorities.
I’m reminded daily that leadership isn’t just about external strategies but internal clarity. The leaders who thrive aren’t necessarily those with fewer challenges, but those who’ve developed practices to maintain perspective amidst those challenges. 🔥
This is exactly why our Awareness to Action Retreat in July will help you determine what mindset practices will transform how you show up as a leader. We’ll be exploring practical tools for maintaining focus and purpose even when everything around you feels chaotic. In just two transformative days, you’ll develop a personalized mindset practice that serves your unique leadership context. Get early bird pricing this month. Learn more and apply here.
Do you have a mental practice that’s served you well? I’d love to hear. #sharingiscaring
