How desperately do you want to learn
to live freely + lightly?
Study after study shows that women have carried a disproportionate weight during this pandemic. We are exhausted emotionally and physically.
And while the temptation may be to curl up in a ball on the couch and shut down, that is the exact reason why you must invest in yourself. This is not optional, Warrior. Survival is not life. Responding by doing nothing, gets you even more stuck into all the things you despise most about your current reality.
Alternatively Jesus’ words have compelled me for the last two decades:
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
The “self-help” and “self-care” gurus would like to make you believe that a pedicure or bubble bath will solve your problems. SPOILER: they won’t! Pedicures aren’t bad, but they don’t address the real heart issue. Bubble baths won’t help you recover your life. And they definitely won’t help you learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
If the goal is to learn to live freely and lightly, then you get to experiment with new actions to give you new results.
What’s not working can’t be continued. Doing the same thing over and over again is…well, insane. Running the same (internal?) rat race only reinforces the exhaustion. Force fitting someone else’s solutions on you will be heavy and ill-fitting.
But here’s what I know—when you’re tired, worn out, burned out, all of those actions Jesus mentions can feel too much. Disconnecting and stopping everything possible feels way better in the moment. And THAT, my friend, is the exact reason my contrarian response is actually spot on!
You may feel exhausted, worn out, still uncertain, or stretched-to-breaking, but we are here to help you recover your life. We can be a guide so you learn how to live freely and lightly. If you’re willing to commit to discover how, we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
