What if it’s easy?

As an Enneagram 8, “challenge accepted” is one of my go-to mantras. It’s served me well in a life filled with challenges and struggles, but it’s also trained my brain to think it’s all gonna be hard and difficult.

For the last 6+ months, I’ve been asking a revolutionary question,

What if it’s easy?

I’m re-training my brain to look for ease. It’s pulled me deeper into Jesus’ invitation to trade what’s heavy for what’s easy and light. I’m now looking for simpler responses and results. I anticipate that things are going to easier instead of harder. For real? It’s life-changing.

Last week I was listening to a podcast and the guest referenced to the quote above. I stopped applying my make-up and wrote it down. YES! When we accept the things we cannot change, life become easier. I think that’s an expression of surrender.

I bet you anything that you’d love some more ease in your life, too. Life is hard. Relationships are challenging. Curveballs are inevitable. We get in our own way too often.

But when we shift our expectations and train our brains to look for ease, it all becomes lighter and simpler. Practice it. See what happens in your life and leadership. It’s opened up SO much more joy, peace, and opportunity for me. I’ve got less pushing, stress, anxiety, and human effort.
